Magnavox

Magnavox was an early participant in the initial video game boom of the 1970s, releasing a variety of dedicated home consoles in the Odyssey series. A variety of Odyssey systems were manufactured under the Magnavox brand (also under the Philips brand, after Philips purchased Magnavox in 1974) between 1972 and 1978. These featured dedicated onboard games like Squash, Tennis, and Hockey. The original Odyssey utilized plastic overlays that were placed on the screen for graphical enhancement and was host to the first-ever video game light gun. Iterations of the Odyssey included the 3000 and 4000, while the Odyssey 2 was released in 1978. Unlike the original Odyssey line, the Odyssey 2 featured interchangeable ROM cartridges, with titles like Atlantis, Frogger, Smithereens!, and Killer Bees! among the most popular.
