Game Boy Advance

The critically popular and commercially successful follow-up to the Game Boy Color, Nintendo's Game Boy Advance was first released in the spring of 2001. Featuring full-color 32-bit graphics and a landscape display, the Game Boy Advance (GBA) quickly became the handheld console of choice for the new millennium. With Game Boy backward compatibility and the GameCube's Game Boy Player, the GBA offered a variety of gaming experiences. The GBA also supported a variety of accessories, including a wireless adapter, screen-magnifier, and, of course, a link cable for multiplayer play. The GBA SP, released in 2003, featured a frontlit screen. A backlight screen was introduced in 2005. Production of the GBA continued into 2010 in North America, and games like Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Metroid Fusion, Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, and the GBA Pokemon series have become legendary among gamers. With more than 81.5 million units sold, the GBA is unquestionably one of the most popular systems of all-time.
