Colecovision

Released in August of 1982, the ColecoVision was Coleco Industries' second foray into the home console gaming market. While the company's earlier joint Coleco-Telstar consoles were game-dedicated systems, the ColecoVision utilized fully interchangeable ROM cartridges. The ColecoVision offered a more arcade-like experience than competing consoles like the Atari 2600 and was expandable. Expansion modules allowed games to use a steering wheel controller, joysticks, a trackball, and, with Expansion Module #1, play Atari 2600 games. Over 140 titles were available for the ColecoVision, including Zaccon, Cosmic Avenger, Lady Bug, and a port of Nintendo's Donkey Kong. Unfortunately, the video game crash of 1983 negatively impacted the ColecoVision, which was discontinued in 1985.
