Pico

The Sega Pico, or Kids Computer Pico, was an educational video game console released by Sega toys in Japan in 1993 and North America the following year. Utilizing the same hardware as the Sega Genesis, the Pico was designed for educational entertainment for children ages 3-7. While the Pico was designed to resemble a laptop computer, it did not feature an onboard display and instead had to be connected to a monitor or television. Instead of a display, the console itself had a touchpad that could be controlled with a stylus pen. The Pico did not have a major presence in North America, with less than half a million units sold and with production halted after less than four years. However, it remained in production in Japan through 2005, when it was replaced by the Advanced Pico Beena. Nearly 3.5 million units were sold in Japan during the Pico's lifespan.
